Sport Academy Registration

Sports Academy 2023/24 Info and Registration:

Thank you for your interest in a Brock Secondary School Academy. The following deposit needs to be paid by May 19. Deposits can be paid at the office by cash, debt, or cheque.

Students choosing a Sports Academy must submit:

 The remainder of the deposit is due at the end of September 2024. This can be paid at the office with cash, debit, or post-dated cheques.

Aquatics Academy: This is not a “learn to swim” program. Students are expected to know how to swim and be able to swim 100 meters nonstop or have Swim Kids 8 (Red Cross Swimming). Students must be passionate about swimming and have a desire to improve on all stroke techniques. They will also receive instruction in areas such as nutrition, fitness, sport psychology and other swimming related pursuits. (eg. water polo, scuba diving, lifeguard certification). Parents are invited to contact Mr. Brad Dalke (Academy teacher) to discuss their student’s suitability if unsure. Students are responsible for providing their own appropriate swimwear and accessories (goggles, nose plugs if needed). This academy takes place at the TCC Pool. Cost: $350 – covers the cost of busing students to and from the TCC Pool for each class. A minimum of $175 is due by May 19 while the remaining $175 is due by the end of September.

Dance Academy: Dance Academy is able to accommodate students who have no previous dance experience as well as those that have had prior dance experience. The Academy will provide instruction in four types of dance (Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop). The teacher will be supported by dance instructors from outside agencies. Student are responsible for providing their own appropriate footwear and clothing (ballet shoes, leggings, yoga pants etc.) This academy is held in our drama/dance studio on site. Cost: $225 – covers the cost of dance instructors to support the teacher in the delivery of specific dance instruction. A minimum of $125 is due by May 19 while the remaining $100 is due by the end of September.

Hockey Academy: This is not a “learn to skate” program, and the focus is on individual skill development. As such, students must be participating in some level of Minor Hockey (House or Rep). Students are responsible for providing their own CSA approved equipment and are also responsible for ensuring their equipment is brought to and from the Brocklehurst Arena (which is where the academy takes place). Cost: $300 – covers the cost of additional coaches to support the teacher on the ice, as well as academy equipment such as pucks, shooter tutors, etc. A minimum of $125 is due by May 19 while the remaining $150 is due by the end of September.
